"What Not to Wear" Kindergarten Edition

We are very aware that many children love getting all dressed up in their best clothes. Unfortunately, Kindergarten is not the place to do this!  Our play-based/inquiry-based program is higly hands on and interactive.  This means, digging in dirt, painting with fingers, collecting bugs and leaves, discovering the joys of mud etc. are a regular part of the day.  Along with these types of activities comes the joy of getting messy.  That is part of learning.

By sending your child dressed in comfortable, washable clothes you are giving your child permission to jump right in there and participate to the fullest. Children dressed in "good clothes" often hold back and do not engage fully in certain activities because they are afraid to get dirty and upset their parents.

Comfortable shoes are also a must! Flip flops and dress shoes can become dangerous especially while participating in gym and climbing on the sturcture.  We encourage you to send in a simple pair of velcro running shoes for indoors and weather appropriate shoes/boots for outside.
